The apparatus for transferring longitudinally axially conveyed rod-shaped articles of the tobacco-processing industry into a transversely axial conveying direction comprises a pair of rotatingly drivable eccentric discs (9, 11), which accelerate the articles (2) individually one after the other in a transversely axial direction and have in each case a first circumferential section (13) of smaller radius and at least a second circumferential section (14) of eccentrically increasing radius, and comprises a sliding surface (7), which extends tangentially with respect to the receiving transverse conveyor (6). The circumferential surface of each eccentric disc (9, 11) is provided at least in a predetermined circumferential section (14) with radial suction-air openings, which are connected to a vacuum source. <IMAGE>
