Application of the method for laying one or more layers of wires on elongated material

A method for laying one or more layers consisting of a large number of metallic wires, whose skew direction changes continuously during the cable-twisting process, onto the surface of elongated material, in which the wires are held in position after laying by means of a strand which is fitted in a helical manner with a short skew length, is applied to the production of shielding layers in the sheath construction of electrical cables. The strand is a metal wire which is fitted with a pretensioning which is slightly below the strain limit of the wire.
