PURPOSE:To facilitate braking of an internal gear and releasing of the gear from braking, by a method wherein the internal gear of a planetary gear mechanism is supported in a free play state, and the side of a friction plate, engaged with the outer periphery thereof by means of a spline, is braked by a press plate which is threadedly moved by means of a screw. CONSTITUTION:An annular internal gear 6, positioned in a free play state, is engaged with the outside of a planetary gear 4. A spline 6a, is installed to the outer periphery of the internal gear 6, an annular friction plate 7 is coaxially located through the spline 6a, and is disposed axially slidably. The friction plate 7 has its side positioned opposite to a press plate 8, and when the press plate 8 is rotated through lateral shifting of a lever 11, the rotation causes the press plate 8 to be threadedly moved forward through threaded engagement of screws 8b and 9b with each other, and thereby friction between the press plate 8 and the friction plate 7 causes braking of the internal gear.
