For a printing distance counter of the type of a wheel revolution counter which is also to be suitable for mounting on the axle hub of passenger cars, an arrangement of the type wheel set and of the number type set to be assigned to the latter is proposed which guarantees a minimum constructional height. This is achieved in that a covering plate (48) is assigned to a counter frame (21) in which the type wheel set (28) is mounted on an axle (31), into which covering plate the number type set (49), which is formed from individual type bars (51) held on receiving rods (52 and 53), is let in a recess (61). Additionally, the type bars (51) have circular arc-shaped cutouts on their longitudinal side assigned to the type wheel set (28). <IMAGE>
