A ball bearing 1 for longitudinal movements of a shaft 2 has a sleeve 3 which surrounds the shaft 2 and has one or more guide tracks with in each case one endless row of balls. The balls 8 of the row of balls which provide support in rolling on the shaft 2 in the raceway section are arranged offset relative to one another in at least double-row configuration. To ensure that the ball bearing 1 is of compact construction and has a relatively high bearing capacity, the load-bearing balls 8 of each endless row of balls are arranged offset relative to one another in a multiple-row configuration in the raceway section and the non-load-bearing balls 17 of each endless row of balls are arranged close behind one another in single-row configuration in the return section 6. A funnel section, which has walls tapering towards one another without a step in the circumferential direction towards the adjoining deflection or return section 6 in accordance with the single-row configuration, is provided at both ends of the raceway section or in the adjoining deflection sections. <IMAGE>
