PURPOSE:To obtain an electrical contact material having superior welding resistance by adding oxides of Sn and Pb, Zr or a rare earth element to an Ag-CdO composite alloy. CONSTITUTION:An alloy consisting of 1-20wt% Cd, 0.5-10wt% Sn, 0.01-3wt% one or more among Pb, Zr and a rare earth element, and the balance Ag is prepd., and the elements except Ag are converted into oxides to obtain an Ag- oxide type electrical contact material. To the material may be added 0.01- 1wt% (expressed in terms of Fe) Fe oxide. The contact material has higher welding resistance than an Ag-CdO type contact material, and the performance can be well demonstrated even in an apparatus of a reduced size. |
