The invention relates to a drive hub for cycles or the like having a hub gear shift which has at least one planetary gear system, and having a driver designed for a set of dérailleur gears with integrated freewheel. The hub sleeve surrounds the planetary carrier of the hub gearing with its radially extended hub end whilst the driver is constructed in a bell shape and serves at the same time as ring gear of the planetary gearing. A coupling sleeve which is arranged on the axis of the hub so as to be rotatable and displaceable by means of a control cable serves to shift the hub gearing. The sun wheel of the planetary gearing is arranged on the axis of the hub so as to be rotatable and axially displaceable, the sun wheel can be fixed in the circumferential direction in an axial position with respect to the planetary carrier whilst in a different axial position the sun wheel can be connected fixed in terms of rotation to the axis of the hub by means of the coupling sleeve which is constructionally connected to it. As multi-gear hub which is equipped in this way only has a few components which are per se simple and permit simple and cost-effective assembly when commercially available freewheel chain cogs are used.
