Attached to the front end of a stud welding gun, in which the studs are to be inserted laterally via an insertion tube, is a receiving part which, in the part remote from the stud holder, has a concentric bore which corresponds approximately to the outside diameter of a push rod and, approximately at the level of the end of the insertion opening facing the stud holder, merges into a concentric bore whose diameter in each case corresponds to the flange diameter of the studs to be welded. The angle between the axis of the insertion tube and the longitudinal axis of the receiving part is preferably of the order of magnitude of 30 DEG , preferably around 25 DEG . On account of the dimensioning of the concentric bores in the receiving part, tilting and thus jamming of the studs is prevented, the length of which is about the same as their flange diameter.
