PURPOSE:To obtain a high-strength high-toughness steel wire having a large diameter by specifying respectively the patenting strength P, drawing rate D and number of drawing with the high-carbon steel wire having a prescribed wire diameter or above and regulating the relation between P and D. CONSTITUTION:A high-carbon steel wire (for example, high-carbon steel wire contg. 0.82%C) having >=3mm. wire diameter (for example, 13mm.) is produced by cold drawing at 50-800m/min. The drawing is accomplished with 120-140kg/mm.<2> patenting strength P, 85-92% drawing rate and 9-13 times the number of drawing and the relation between the above-described P and D is set at P<= -0.18D+160. The high-strength and high-toughness steel wire having a large diameter of >=3mm. wire diameter and >=200kg/mm.<2> tensile strength is thus easily obtd. The PC stranded wire having a large diameter of >=1/2'' and having high strength and high toughness which is previously considered impossible is easily produced by using such steel wire. |
