PURPOSE:To enhance a measurement precision in a wide distance range by controlling the interval or the angle between photographing positions of means, which obtains pictures in the left and the right of a prescribed visual field, so that an object is placed in the center of a visual field common to them. CONSTITUTION:A camera base 1 provided with a driving mechanism 5 which is controlled by a control circuit 9 is provided with a left camera 2 and a right camera 3, and the circuit 9 is connected to an object detecting circuit 6, which is connected to the camera 2, through a position control circuit 8, and a control circuit 7 of an interval varying mechanism 4 of cameras 2 and 3 is connected to the circuit 6 also. A comparing circuit 10 connected to a video signal reversing circuit 11 is connected to the camera 2, and level signals corresponding to the object in both pictures are compared with a reference value 12, and an area measuring circuit 13 is connected to the circuit 10 to measure the area of a prescribed level signal part, and this area is connected to the circuit 9 through a position control circuit 14. Thus, the center position of the common visual field is detected by a minimum value of the area of the prescribed level signal part. |
