From DE-PS 2421964, a bridging device for expansion joints in roadways of bridges or the like is known. The girders running transversely to the roadway are supported on crossbeams which are controlled with the aid of guide rods in such a manner that a change in the joint gap width is distributed uniformly over the part gaps between the girders. In this known device, recesses lying opposite one another, in which the guide rods are pivotably mounted, are provided on both sides of the joint gap. The bridging device according to the invention indicates a solution which allows the control to be simplified and be made less expensive. Instead of arranging guide rods in both recesses (N1, N2), only one guide rod (4) is used, which is controlled by a guide bar (6) fastened in the opposite recess (N2). <IMAGE>
