PURPOSE:To improve the measurement precision by receiving the luminous flux from a light source through a liquid to be examined in a photometric cell by photodetectors in plural positions different in optical length and comparing quantities of received light per unit light receiving area to detect a turbidity of the liquid to be examined. CONSTITUTION:The luminous flux from a light source 1 is made incident on a photometric cell 4, where a liquie 3 to be examined is stored, through an interference filter 2, and this luminous flux is reflected on a turnable mirror 5 and is led to a photodetector 8 or is transmitted through the mirror 5 and is led to another photodetector 9 whose optical length from an exit face 7 is different from that of the photodetector 8. Wavelength light corresponding to a measurement item is scattered by turbidness or the like of the liquid 3 to be examined and is allowed to exit from the exit face 7, and the turnable mirror 5 is turned momently to make this light incident on light receiving faces of photodetectors 8 and 9. Since the exit light is more diffused according as the liquid 3 to be examined is turbider, quantities of received light are compared to detect the turbidity. Thus, the measurement precision is improved, and the processing capability is enhanced.
