PURPOSE:To crosslink a chlorine-containing polymer in good efficiency, by feeding a chlorine-containing polymer and a liquid formed by dissolving a radical generator in a silane compound into an extruder and bringing the obtained extrusion molding into contact with a silane condensation catalyst and water. CONSTITUTION:A mixture containing a chlorine-containing polymer, such as chlorinated polyethylene or polyvinyl chloride, as a principal constituent and, optionally, a lead compound or the like is fed into an extruder through its hopper. At the same time, a liquid formed by dissolving a radical generator (e.g., benzoyl peroxide) in a silane compound (e.g., vinyltrimethoxysilane) is poured into the cylinder of the extruder, and the resulting mixture is allowed to react by heating. The resulting reaction mixture is extrusion-molded alone, or extrusion-coated around a wire-like object, and the obtained extrusion molding is brought into contact with a silane condensation catalyst (e.g., dibytultin dilaurate) and water to crosslink the chlorine-containing polymer.
