PURPOSE:To prevent generation of several times of interruption inhibiting states by reading of data only once when a write request is incoming even how many times the cover is opened and closed from the read of data until the next write. CONSTITUTION:When the opening and closing of a cover exists even once, a cover opening/closing flag is set. When a write request to a flexible disc 32 is incoming afterward, the flag is checked and when the flag is set, it is discriminated that the opening/closing of the cover exists during this time, the data is read from the disc 32 again, the flag is reset and the management NO of the read data and the management NO of the data read in the preceding time are compared. When both the NO are coincident it is discriminated that the disc 32 is the same even when the closing/opening of the cover is performed and the write processing is conducted. When they are not coincident, it is discriminated that the disc 32 is replaced and error processing is attained. Thus, generation of many times of interruption inhibiting states in th opening/closing check of the cover is avoided.
