PURPOSE:To prevent a medium from being removed during the operating job by issuing a set lock instructin to an external storage device when a prescribed event is generated and issuing a set unlock instruction when other even takes place. CONSTITUTION:When an operating start statement OPEN is given to a monitor M to allow an application program to use a file a of a floppy disc FPD1, the monitor M issues a medium fixing instruction (set lock) to a floppy disc device FPDV. Thus, the device FPDV fixes the disc FPD1 so as to disable the removal. The program APL gives an operation end statement CLOSE to the monitor when the use of the file A is finished. Then the monitor M issues a medium fixing release instruction (set unlock) to the device FPDV. Thus, the device FPDV brings the disc FPD1 to the removal enable state.
