PURPOSE:To produce easily a crosslinked imide polymer excellent in solvent resistance, alkali resistance, adhesiveness, and mechanical properties at low cost, by crosslinking a special imide polymer with a specified crosslinking agent system. CONSTITUTION:Use is made of a crosslinking system comprising about 0.1- 15pts.wt. (per 100pts.wt. imide polymer, the same will apply hereinafter) radical- reacting crosslinking agent (e.g., benzoyl peroxide or sulfur), about 0.1-10pts.wt. vulcanization accelerator (e.g., diphneylguanidine) and/or about 0.1-20pts.wt. covulcanizing agent (e.g., p-benzoquinone dioxime). Namely, a polyamic acid (salt) in which no aromatic hydrocarbon group is directly bonded to the carbonyl group of the amide-acid bond or a polyimide in which no aromatic hydrocarbon group is directly bonded to the carboxyl group of the imide bond is reacted with the above crosslinking agent system in an organic solvent at about 80-250 deg.C.
