PURPOSE:To accelerate formation of a shell and to provide compact structure preventing breakout by coupling directly inside and outside cylindrical molds having cooling functions via break rings to a horizontal nozzle in the lower part of a tundish and drawing a casting pipe. CONSTITUTION:An outside cylindrical mold 13 and an inside cylindrical mold 14 having cooling functions 12, 21, 23 are directly coupled via break rings 11, 11' to a horizontal nozzle 9 in the lower part of a tundish 1. A molten metal 3 forms a shell 4 between the molds 13 and 14, which shell forms a billet 7. The billet is drawn by support rollers 5 and pinch rollers 6. The shell 4 grows from the inside and outside to be accelerated thus making a ladle function 2 compact. Since there is no bending of the billet 7, breakout is prevented. If the billet 7 is rotated by the pinch roll part 6, the wall thickness of the hollow billet 7 is made much more uniform. |
