摘要 PURPOSE:To prevent picture quality from deteriorating by previously emphasizing a luminance signal, where a decrease in luminance is estimated on the screen of an image receiver by the narrow band characteristics of a color difference signal, on a transmission side. CONSTITUTION:Primary color signals R, G, and B are supplied to a luminance signal synthesizer 5, which synthesizes a luminance signal Y. On the other hand, a color specifying signal M composed of all, two, or one of the primary color signals R, G, and B is supplied to a color change discriminator 7. In response to a change of the specifying signal with time, the discriminator 7 generates a detection signal (d), which is transmitted to a luminance signal emphasizing device 6. The device 6 inputs the signal Y and signal (d) and increases the level of the luminance signal according to the signal (d) to output a corrected luminance signal Y'. Consequently, a decrease in luminance on a screen at a color change part is corrected.
