PURPOSE:A rubber composition improved in frictional resistance on a frozen road surface while controlling frictional resistance on a wet road surface, obtained by mixing a diene rubber with carbon black and a specified polyether or a mixture thereof with a process oil. CONSTITUTION:A rubber composition containing 100pts.wt. diene rubber, 40- 100pts.wt. carbon black and 5-80pts.wt. polyether which is formed from starting materials containing formaldehyde, ethylene glycol, propylene glycol, and 1,4- butanediol or 1,6-hexanediol, has 3-10 repeating ether units each comprising at least one of formaldehyde and the above diols and a 1-8C alkyl ether on both terminals, or a mixture of this polyether with a process oil. The carbon black which can be used in this rubber composition includes any carbon black that can be used for tire treads, and its amount is 40-100pts.wt. per 100pts.wt. rubber material.
