PURPOSE:To obtain a picture reader correcting the level difference of a video signal and preventing a reproduced picture from deterioration by correcting signals transferred by separating a signal into two channels and composing the corrected signals. CONSTITUTION:Video signals V1, V2 outputted from a line sensor 1 are applied to sample holders 6, 7 through amplifiers 2, 3 and capacitors 4, 5, respectively. Sample signals obtained from the sample holders 6, 7 are clamped at their black level by transistors (TRs) 10, 11 and applied to video signal amplifiers 18, 19, which adjust the offset and gain of the clamped signals to adjust balance between two chaneels. The balance-adjusted signals are guided to A/D converters 22, 23, the converted digital signals of 6 bits are applied to a selector 24 and composed by a selecting signal and a video signal of one channel is outputted.
