PURPOSE:To enhance recording sensitivity, S/N ratio in reproduction and thermal stability and reduce deterioration on reproduction, by using an optical recording medium provided with a recording layer of a specified phthalocyanine polymer (composition) on a base. CONSTITUTION:The recording layer consisting of a phthalocyanine polymer (composition) obtained by cross-linking two or more molecules of phthalocyanine having a functional group, preferably, at least one of a hydroxyl group, a carboxyl group and a sulfone group, preferably, 3,3'-di(6-hydroxyhexhyloxycarbonyl) vanadylphthalocyanine, by a metallic cross-linking agent, preferably, tetra-i-propoxytitanium, is provided on the base, e.g., a resin or a glass, to obtain the optical recording medium. The medium is irradiated with pulses of writing light to change the orientation or the associated state of the molecules of phthalocyanine, whereby a substantially non-rugged recorded point having a light reflectance, transmittance or absorbance different from that of the surroundings is produced, thereby recording. |
