PURPOSE:To restore the output voltage of a photoelectric conversion element to a high level at the restarting of read scanning by connecting a switch to a bias voltage circuit and opening the switch during the interrupting period of the read scanning to interrup the supply of output voltage to the photoelectric conversion element temporally. CONSTITUTION:The switch SW turning on and off a bias voltage supply line is inserted between a bias voltage power supply +V and switches SC1-SCn in respective blocks. The switches SC1-SCn and switches Sl1-Slm are properly turned on and off under control from a switch control circuit which is not shown to execute read scanning, but if the signal changing point of a reading signal is detected by a signal processing part, the opening/closing state of respective switches SC1-SCn and Sl1-Slm is held, the read scanning is temporally interrupted and a control signal AS is applied to the switch SW to interrupt the bias supply line temporally. Thus, incorrect reading is prevented without generating the excessive drop of the output voltage.
