PURPOSE:To enable mass production of reinforcing cores for use to a composite magnetic head suited to the close recording in an extremely easy way and with high yield, by cutting many core blocks out of a single block and many reinforcing core chips out of each core block respectively. CONSTITUTION:Marker grooves m1, m2... are formed with same pitches on an upper surface 8a of a core block 8. In this case, about 3-4 units of these marker grooves are cut with depth (dm) at positions distant away by a prescribed distance k1 from edges i1, i2... of the 1st groove r1, the 2nd groove r2.... Then the block 8 is cut by a wire saw along edges k1, k2... of the grooves m1, m2... with cutting margins j1, j2... and at an angle eta to obtain a reinforcing core chip 9. Then a reinforcing core 91 is obtained by polishing the 1st and 2nd surfaces 9a and 9b by DELTA1 and DELTA2 respectively with thickness V. This core 91 contains core halves 92 and 93 cemented with glasses 94 and 95 together with a coil window 96 opened. |
