Compds. of formula (I) and their acid addn. salts are new. In the formula (I), R is a mono-, bi-, or tricyclic opt. unsatd. ring contg. 1N as sole heteroatom and bonded through the N; R1 is H or an OH protecting gp.; R2 is H, C1-5 alkanoyl, PhCH2W, PhC2H4CO, or PhCO2; R3 is H, iodo, OH, mycarosyloxy, or C1-5 alkanoyloxy; and R4 is mycinoxyloxy. Compds. (I) are broad-spectrum antibacterials and are effective against Pasteurella and Mycoplasma species, e.g. causing mycoplasmal pneumonia in swine. |
