PURPOSE:The titled compoisition, obtained by polymerizing a crosslinking monomer consisting essentially of methyl methacrylate (MMA) in the presence of specific acrylic elastomeric particles of multilayered structure, and then polymerizing a noncrosslinking monomer. CONSTITUTION:An impact-resistant methacrylic resin composition obtained by polymerizing (B) 5-100pts.wt. crosslinking monomer mixture consisting of 80- 99.9wt% methyl methacrylate (MMA), 0-19.9wt% mixture of 1-8C alkyl ester of acrylic acid with styrene, (iii) 0-10wt% another copolymerizable vinyl monomer and (iv) 0.1-10wt% multifunctional monomer having <=2 C=C bonds in the molecule in the presence of (A) 100pts.wt. acrylic elastomeric particles, having 0.13-0.45mum particle diameter, and containing (i) 5-60pts.wt. rigid crosslinked resin containing >=80wt% MMA units in the interior thereof and 95-40pts.wt. crosslinked acrylic copolymer of a monomer mixture consisting of 10-30wt% mixture of (iia) 69.9-89.9wt% 1-8C alkyl ester of acrylic acid with styrene and (iib) 0.1-10wt% compound of formula I or II as an outer layer, and polymerizing (C) 5-1,000pts.wt. mixture of 80-100wt% MMA with 0-20wt% component (iia) and 0-10wt% component (iii) therewith to give 0.5-200wt. ratio between the components (C) and (B).
