PURPOSE:To store both new and old types of picture information and also to retrieve them by using a means which stores revised registered picture information on a memory and a means which delivers the stored picture information or unrevised picture information in a retrieval mode. CONSTITUTION:For registration of the revised picture information, a revised information register mode is selected and set by a keyboard 23 and the retrieval code of the picture information to be registered is supplied. Then a coincident retrieval code on a magnetic disk 28 corresponding to an optical disk 19 is stored in a main memory 13. Then an original is set to a two-dimensional scanner 20 and then stored on the disk 19. Furthermore both the memory address and the number of picture information are stored to the memory 13 in response to the retrieval code and then supplied to a magnetic disk device 27. In a retrieval mode a retrieval mode is set by the keyboard 23 and the retrieval code is applied. A CPU12 refers to the retrieval code on the disk 28 corresponding to the disk 19 and reads out the corresponding picture information number and the memory address to display the picture information sent from the memory address of the disk 19.
