NEW MATERIAL:2-(2'-Norbornadienecarbonyloxy)naphthalene expressed by formula I . USE:A light energy converting agent, capable of absorbing easily sunlight causing photoisomerization reaction, having high photoisomerization rate, exhibiting improved performance, and converting into 2-(1'-quadricyclenecarbonyloxy)naphthalene expressed by formula II, etc. simply by dissolving the compound in benzene in a pyrex glass vessel, and allowing the compound to stand under sunlight for 60min. The resultant compounds are capable of storing the light energy, e.g. sunlight, in the form of chemical energy, which can be taken out as thermal energy, etc. at any time. PREPARATION:2-Propioloyloxynaphthalene is subjected to the Diels-Alder reaction with cyclopentadiene in or without a solvent at -20-+100 deg.C or 2-hydroxynaphthalene is condensed with 2-norbornadienecarboxylic acid to afford the aimed compound expressed by formula I . |
