The umbrella, particularly for use by an angler, comprises a rod with extendable frame with a protective screen fixed to it. Along one side, the screen is provided with an extension panel which can be placed in a vertical position, with its end secured to the ground. - The rod is arranged vertically or at an angle to provide added protection against wind or driving rain. The frame and screen may define a square when extended whilst the panel is trapezium-shaped or rectangular.
