<p>The apparatus includes first means 301, for folding the upper edge 91 of the mouth of the container outwards and downwards to form an annular rim defining a hollow annular space 921, within the rim and second means 3021 for shaping the folded rim to form a peripheral ring around the mouth of the container having at least three folds 931, 932, 933 so that the lower edge of the rim rests against the outer surface of the container.
