PURPOSE:To eliminate noise at detection of a position of an original by providing a memory storing a picture data for one line's share and detecting that picture information of the picture element of the basic detection unit including the line relating to the storage is all specific picture information. CONSTITUTION:RAMs 6-5-6-8 storing picture information for one line's share are provided in order to detect the consecution of an original signal of 4-bit and 4-line. A decoder 6-14 transmits selection signals SEL 1-4 sequentially to selectors 6-1-6-4 in response to the supply of a subscanning address signal AY. The RAMs 6-5-6-8 are selected in response to the selection input and stores a video signal 4-1 in response to the address signal AY via the selectors respectively. A new video signal is applied sequentially at each line to a gate 6-9. Then an output signal is fed to a shift register 6-10 and a gate 6-11 detects the consecution of the original signal for 4-bit's share in the main scanning direction.
