The use of large numbers of electrolytic capacitors is eliminated and they are replaced by two capacitors of 35 farads each. One detects excessive consumption or faulty state of the motor when it does not exceed 16 farads max. and the other checks the motor when the machine is acting as a spin-drier. Connection to the main circuit is through a change-over switch to allow alternate checking of the motor in washing or spin-drying phases. - The first capacitor is connected to a selector in the main circuit which connects or disconnects the appropriate capacitor and thereby selects the work to be done by the motor.
