PURPOSE:To facilitate the coupling, adjustment and fixing of a fiber and hermetic sealing between the fiber and a package by fixing the fiber and a cylindrical member by an oblique cut section in the cylindrical member while hermetically sealing an inner mouth section, fusion- bonding and fastening an element optically coupled with a penetrating fiber at approximately the position of optical coupling through visual observation and adjusting bonding at the optimum position of coupling. CONSTITUTION:A base 3 and a cylinder 4, one and thereof is cut obliquely, are fusion-bonded with a package 1. The cylinder 4 is made of a material having plasticity, such as iron, copper, aluminum, etc., crosses at right angles with a circular port, through which a fiber is passed, in the package 1, and is fusion-bonded so that the inner-mouth side wall of an oblique cut section is viewed from an upper section. The fiber 2, on an outer circumference thereof a metal is attached, is penetrated through the circular port of the package and the cylinder 4, and hermetically sealed by using a solder material 9 in the oblique cut section in the cylinder 4. A semiconductor laser 5 fusion-bonded with a heat sink 6 is fusion-bonded at approximately the position of optical coupling through visual observation, and a photo-diode 7 for monitor is fusion-bonded in the direction opposite to the fiber 2 of the semiconductor laser 5. The semiconductor laser 5 is light-emitted, the cylinder 4 is bent left and right and upward and downward while measuring the amount of incident light to the fiber 2 at another end of the fiber 2, and cylinder 4 is adjusted to a section where the amount of incident light to the fiber 2 is maximized. Lastly, a cover is fusion-bonded in a nitrogen atmosphere, and the package is hermetically sealed.
