The electro-acoustic transducer (e.g. a speaker) comprises a diaphragm (1) at its outer perimeter (6) coupled (8) with a frame (7). A circumferential slot (10) or cut is arranged in the diaphragm (radially) inward of its perimeter and resiliently damping material (13) is applied on the diaphragm at least across this slot or cut such that it is coupled with the diaphragm portions (14,15) outward and inward of this slot or cut. The slot or cut may be interrupted at at least two perimetrically spaced points. It may follow a line parallel to the perimeter, preferably in close proximity thereto. The material (13) is preferably a resiliently damping adhesive and may be acrylate, poly-urethane, silicone, or rubber-based or a hot melt adhesive. It preferably extends over the entire length of the said closed line.
