<p>Cellular glass is obtd. from a mixt. of glass powder, gas generating agents and other ingredients by heating in a furnace in which it melts, expands and cools. The glass particle size, blowing agent particle size, proportions of each, time and temp. of heating are such as to give a final density not below 0.2 g/cm3 and mean dia. of the cells not above 0.7 mm. - At least 40% of the glass powder must pass through a 0.088 mm. Sieve the amt. of blowing agent, such as a carbonate, is less than 5% of the wt. of glass powder, the temp. is below 600 deg. C and the time of heating less than 2 hrs.</p> |
