PURPOSE:To improve the reliability and operability of the control system by discriminating automatically the type of a disc device connected to a controller so as to switch the control. CONSTITUTION:In connecting a disc device 1a to a controller 2, a disc device identification signal 15a is inputted to a discrimination circuit 27, which discriminates the signal 15a and gives a switch signal to a control circuit 22, a disc interface circuit 23 and a CPU interface circuit 24 so as to be operated by the control method to the device 1a. Moreover, a CPU3 reads the result of discrimination of the type of the disc device and make a command adaptive to the controller 2. The controller 2 executes the control method to the device 1b similarly when a disc device 1h is connected to the controller 2.
