<p>PURPOSE:To enable methane fermentation under high load by adding a mixture composed of microorganisms to decompose acetic acid and methane forming bacteria to sludge and performing methane fermentation thereby increasing the reaction for forming gaseous methane from the acid and eliminating the accumulation of the acid. CONSTITUTION:A mixture composed of microorganisms having the function to decompose successively accumulating lower fatty acids and methane forming bacteria is added to sluged, by which the lower fatty acids are decomposed to prevent acid accumulation and to accelerate the reaction for forming methane in the rate-determining step. The methane fermentation is thus caused under high load. The sludge is integrally cultured in, for example, the chemically defined medium using acetic acid as a substrate, by which the microorganism groups havig strong activity to acetic acid decomposition are taken out and are mixed with the methane forming bacteria, by which the acceleration of the reaction for forming methane from the acetic acid is made possible.</p> |
