PURPOSE:To observe surface flaws at two adjacent surface parts visually at the same time only by running the material lengthwise only once by observing even a projection image formed through a plane mirror. CONSTITUTION:The running steel material 16 is magnetized and fluorescent magnetic powder is scattered and then attracted to a flaw part by magnetic flux leaking from the flaw part. Then, fluorescent light emitted from the flaw part by the irradiation of ultraviolet rays is observed to perform magnetic flaw detection. In this case, surface flaws on the reverse surface side of two adjacent surface parts are observed visually at the same time by the projection upon the plane mirror 38 whose inclination is adjusted freely by a support frame 40 only by running the steel material 16 lengthwise only once, thereby performing the magnetic flaw detection with high efficiency. |
