A multi-layer conveyer belt has a core of a plurality of fabric sheets 10 interconnected by polyvinyl chloride layers 12, and an outer cover part 8 comprising a fabric sheet 2 having on its inner surface a polyvinyl chloride layer 6 and on its outer surface a rubber 4. As described the part 8 completely surrounds the core and has its edges joined by a strip 16 of polyvinyl chloride, or of polyvinyl chloride and a vulcanized natural or synthetic rubber. The strip 16 is in contact with the layer 6 and one or more of the layers 12. The rubber 4 may be vulcanized natural or synthetic rubber. The belt is formed either by laminating the sheet 2, layer 6 and rubber 4 separately from the core, and then laminating the cover sheet and core together, or by placing the various constituent layers sequentially in position and then laminating the whole assembly by application of heat and/or pressure. |
