PURPOSE:To permit preclusion of clogging at an orifice by closing an air vent which is provided at a position higher than the first orifice after the front chamber is supplied with ink. CONSTITUTION:After the printing is completed, the second orifice 10 is covered with a cover 20 and a valve device 17 is changed over and a front chamber 8 is communicated with the atmosphere. Under this condition, if an air pump 14 is operated, the pressure of ink within the ink chamber 5 near the first orifice gradually increases in relation to the pressure within the front chamber 8, and the ink flows out from the first orifice 7 into the front chamber 8. Thus, the first orifice 7 is covered with the ink supplied without leaving any bubble within the front chamber 8. When the completion of filling the front chamber with ink is detected, the operation of the air pump 14 is suspended and the valve 17 is closed, preventing flowing backward of ink. As stated above, the first orifice is covered with ink, resulting in prevention of clogging due to the main reason of drying and adhesion of dust. |
