Reel support structure for tape cassette of the type with open reels in which the annular protruding ends formed on half-cassettes are brought into contact with an internal peripheral step created on a reel hub, and the reels are set in rotation, their two faces being distanced from the interior of the half-cassette. The annular protrusions of the half-cassette are then formed so that they have one sharp end, then uniform protrusions are formed at positions such that the circumference of the internal peripheral step of the reel hub is divided into equal protruding portions which come into contact with the annular protrusions of the half-cassette. Rotational friction is thus minimised when the reels rotate, and thereby the quality of spooling of the tape is satisfactorily stabilised. <IMAGE>
