PURPOSE:To provide ready maintenace of a light amplifying device and to reduce the limit of an applying place by using a light amplifying optical fiber and multicore fiber, propagating a pump light and a signal light through individual optical fibers, and introlducing them to different cores of the multicore fiber. CONSTITUTION:A pump light 1 and a signal light 2 are incident ot different cores of a multicore fiber 15 by using optical fibers 13, 14, and the emitted lights are produced by individual optical fibers. The number of the cores of the multicore fiber is not limited to two, but a multicore fiber having three or more cores may be similarly considered. The ends of the fibers 13, 14 for propagating the pump light and the signal light are thermally oriented to be reduced in diameter in tapered shape, and the cores are fusion-connected to the core 15 of the multicore fiber. The complete separation of the pump light and the signal light at the emitting end is performed by selecting the length of the light amplifying fiber so that the coupling efficiency becomes 1. |
