PURPOSE:To provide the titled compsn. having flame retardant properties without lowering thermal properties, by incorporating a bicyclophosphate compd. with a polyphenylene ether resin. CONSTITUTION:0.1-20pts.wt. bicyclophosphate compd. of the formula (wherein X is 1-8C alkoxy, phenoxy) (e.g., 2,6,7-trioxa-1-phosphobicyclo[2,2,2]octane-4- methoxymethyl-1-oxide) is added to 100pts.wt. resin comprising polyphenylene ether or a mixture of polyphenylene ether with other high-molecular material [e.g., poly(2,6-dimethyl-1,4-phenylene) ether] to yield a resin compsn. The addn. of said phosphate compd. can provide flame retardant properties without lowering thermal propeties.
