PURPOSE:To reduce the size and cost of a drive power source of a laser oscillator by disposing a plurality of discharge tubes through a full-reflecting mirror in multiple stages, connecting a vacuum tube exciting power source with one stage of the tubes, and connecting a continuous exciting power source by resistor with the tube of other stages. CONSTITUTION:Discharge tubes 1-n of n stages have anode electrodes 1a-na and cathode electrodes 1b-nb, a high voltage capable of starting a discharge is always applied to the electrodes 1a-na, and an earth is grounded through a vacuum tube 7 and a current control trasistor 8 to the electrode nb. The electrodes 1b, 2b,... of the tubes 1-3 of the other stages are grounded through resistors 11, 12,.... A pulse or a continuous signal is applied to the base of the transistor 8 to start a discharge when the impedence of the tube 7 becomes a low resistance in response to the signal. A continuous oscillation and pulse oscillation occurs by using a partial transmission mirror 9 and a full-reflecting mirror 6, oscillated laser beam is further amplified by a folded photoamplifiers in multistages, and a laser beam 4 is produced by a full-transmission mirror 10. |
