A programme controller (20) forms the base of the control unit. Stacked upon it are insulation plates (14-18) through which connection to the various operating parts are made. The plates have holes (22-30) and recesses (31-35) through which connections to outgoing contacts (5,33,34,36) are made. The plates (14-18) are stacked on the base (20) from which connections (e.g. 21) extend. The holes and spaces are then filled with a granular conducting medium and vibrated until all free spaces are filled. A heating process fuses and consolidates the granules into conductors.
