NEW MATERIAL:A compound shown by the formula I (R is propyl, octyl, or benzyl). EXAMPLE:4,4'-Thiobisphenol dibenzyl ether. USE:A repellent for insect pests. Having repelling action on sanitary insect pests such as cockroaches, termites, etc. PREPARATION:4,4'-Thiobisphenol is reacted with a propyl halide, octyl halide, or benzyl halide in a proper solvent in the presence of an alkali under heating, to give a compound shown by the formula.
