PURPOSE:To manufacture a clean sintered high-speed steel without especially requiring an atmosphere of high purity by preparing a steel contg. specified percentages of C, Si, Cr, W, V, Mo and Co and having a specified apparent density. CONSTITUTION:A steel contg., by weight, 0.1-2.5% C, <=0.2% Si, 3.0-5.0% Cr, 5.0-20.0% W, 0.5-6.0% V and 2.0-10.0% Mo and/or 4.0-20.0% Co and has 1.6-3.5g/cm<3> apparent density is cold formed and sintered to manufacture a clean sintered body having a favorable structure contg. finely dispersed carbides.
