<p>Fibrous materials are dry cleaned with a solvent, such as benzine, carbon tetrachloride, methylene chloride, tri- or per-chlorethylene, which contains an intensifier of general formula <FORM:1060682/C4-C5/1> or <FORM:1060682/C4-C5/2> where R is an alkyl, arylalkyl or aryl radical having 6-24, preferably 8-20, carbon atoms and M is an equivalent of an alkali or alkaline earth metal, aluminium or C1-4 alkanolamine. The intensifier is usually present in amounts of 0.5-50, preferably 3-10, g./l., and most desirably I and II are both present, II amounting to 15-40%, preferably 20-30%, of the total of I and II. Alkyl sulphates, petroleum sulphonates, oxyethylation derivatives of alcohols and fatty acids, methanol, ethanol isopropanol, octanol, dodecanol and fatty acid ethanolamides may also be incorporated.</p> |
