The brake clearance adjustment device, suitable in particular for motor vehicles, in the form of an adjusting arm, has a worm shaft (6) which is mounted in a rotatable and axially non-displaceable manner in a housing (1) and one end (9) of which projects continuously and in a freely accessible manner out of the housing (1) and is designed as a hexagon (10). The other end (12) of the worm shaft (6) is coupled by means of a frictional cone clutch (14) to a retention sleeve (13) which is coaxial with the worm shaft (6) and is mounted in axially displaceable but non-rotatable fashion in the housing (1). On the retention-sleeve side, a cover (18) closes the hole (5) accommodating the worm shaft (6) and the retention sleeve (13). A spring (19) which loads the cone clutch (14) in the direction of engagement is clamped between the cover (18) and the retention sleeve (13). The brake clearance adjustment device is capable of infinite adjustment and adjustment is possible, without any preparatory or special work, by the application of a turning tool to the hexagon (10). The brake clearance adjustment device has a simple and robust construction, its installation is likewise simple and the interior spaces of the housing can be sealed off in a manner proof against dirt by means of a single ring seal on the worm shaft (6). <IMAGE>
