A filter arrangement for a dual-circuit fuel pump system of an internal combustion engine contains a housing (4), which is sub-divided by a strainer (12) into a first chamber (13) with inlets (3', 9') from a first feed line (3) coming from a pre-feed pump (2) and a first return line (9') coming from a mixture former (7) of the internal combustion engine (8), and a second chamber (14) with an outlet (6') for a second feed line (6) leading to a further fuel pump (5). The first chamber (13) opens by way of a through-port (16) and the second chamber (14) by way of a gas outlet port (18) into a third chamber (17) which has the outlet (10') of a second return line (10) leading to the tank (1) and is subdivided by a partition wall between the ports (16, 18) in such a way that the partition wall has a cross-sectional area (10''), communicating with the through-port (16), which is smaller than the cross-section of the through-port (16) and generates a pressure on the outlet (10') which is lower than the pressure downstream after the gas outlet port (18) (Fig.2). <IMAGE>
