A new safety barrier made of plastic is presented which is distinguished in that the plastic is a thermoset, in particular an unsaturated polyester resin, in that the unsaturated polyester resin is reinforced by reinforcing fabric, in that the tensile strength of the safety barrier is at least 370 to 450 N/mm<2> and in that, for the same tensile strength, the safety barrier is compatible with a steel safety barrier of the same geometry, that is to say with the same dimensions.
